EK banner

This is one of a series of banners to decorate the East Kingdom camp at Pennsic.  They have their own wiki page here.  The design is based on the Manesse Codex.  The banner is canvas, and the design was traced on from a projector.  It was then painted with versatex printing ink with no heat fixative.  If using this method you want to make sure that the paint does not freeze during shipping, or it won’t set properly.  The no heat fixative works by just adding a small amount to the paint you are working with right then, and it will set when dry for a few days.  You need to keep adding it as you go though, as it’s not good for more than 4-6 hours.  Because of this, to conserve fixative and brush washing effort I painted one color at a time over the whole piece.
